SUMMARY:Riverton Day of Service 2024
DESCRIPTION:Riverton Day of Service coincides with National Day of Service every year. This year's Riverton Day of Service falls on Saturday\, September 7\, 2024. We have identified seven different areas where residents can lend a helping hand. Of course\, there are countless other ways individuals can be of service on this day\, but listed below are some of the projects the city has been made aware of. We hope everyone can find a way to serve those around them!\n\nGathering Projects\n\nSt. Andrews Food Bank\n\nSomeone will be available to receive donations on September 9 from 9 a.m. - noon. Items they are in need of:\n\n\n	Nonperishable/ non expired food- soups\, ramen\, Mac & Cheese\, Peanut Butter\, Jam\, canned meats\, pasta\n	Hygiene products: soap\, shampoo\, laundry soap\n	Back to school supplies\n\n\nIf you have questions\, please call the St Andrews Food Bank at 801-871-5080.\n\nHearts Knit Together\n\nThis organization is always looking for donations to put together welcome/refugee baskets\, baskets for women's shelters\, etc. Click here for a full list of items.\n\nChristmas Box House\n\nThis organization temporally houses children under the age of 12 who are in need of immediate shelter until a more permanent situation can be obtained. They are always in need of new items for newborn-early teens. For a list of items they could use\, please click here.\n\nSouth Valley Services\n\nClick here to visit their website for a list of items they are always in need of.\n\nAnimal Shelters\n\nSalt Lake County Animal Services is the largest no-kill shelter in the state. There are many ways to help\, such as donating items for the animals. Click here for a list of items to donate.\n\nOther Possible Projects\n\nNeighborhood cleanup\n\nOrganize your friends and neighbors to clean up the home/yard of an elderly person in your neighborhood that could use a little help in getting their yard ready for winter. You could clean their gutters and trim bushes and trees. Neighbors can stop by Riverton City offices to pick up a dump pass to drop items off at the land fill ( some restrictions apply to the voucher\, restrictions are listed on the back of the voucher).\n\nWalk a park\n\nYou can take a trash bag to a park near your home\, pick up trash the wind has blown up against the fence\, clean up after residents' dogs\, etc. Rake the soft fall in the playground under the swings and slides. Bring a bucket and sponge to clean the playground equipment.
