She has since worked in\n\nthe public sector with municipalities including Herriman City and currently\, Sandy\n\nCity as the communications director.\n\nNicole was also recently elected to city council in Herriman City\, giving her an\n\nopportunity to look at communications from "both sides of the political table".\n\nAs the public information officer for Herriman City\, Nicole handled multiple crisis\n\nsituations including three wildfires in three years\, most notable being the Machine\n\nGun Fire in 2010. The crisis communications was effective using both media\n\nrelations and social media outreach.\n\nA proponent of developing a diversified communications approach\, Nicole has\n\nrecently launched SandyNow!. This comprehensive communications approach\n\nutilizes social media\, online interactive tools\, mobile technology\, video storytelling\n\nand traditional means to better engage residents and encourage interactive\n\nconversations.\n\n"Communications can often be the biggest failure in both crisis situation and in\n\ndaily life\, so public information officers need to have a plan that allows them to\n\ninform on services\, correct misinformation\, connect quickly in an emergency and\n\nrespond to impending needs\," said Martin.\n\nWhen not living and breathing communications\, Nicole enjoys hanging out with\n\nher husband and three kids. Occasionally\, she'll escape on her Harley no cell\n\nphone allowed!
