Job Shadow Day

Research indicates that high school students who  make work-force connections are more likely to graduate and continue post-secondary education and training. This activity is designed to impress upon students the benefits of career exploration at an early age. The goal for the student is to: 

• Discover career opportunities 
• Engage in high school work-related classes
• Enter post-secondary education with career oriented focus
• Develop important work force connections and networks
• Gain 'real world' experiences
• Be inspired

As a job shadow sponsor, Canyons School District asks that you allow the student to shadow someone in your business on Wednesday, February 4 between 7:00-11:00 am (students will provide their own transportation). Job shadows look different depending on the company. They could include:

• One to four hours
• Company tours
• Hands on experiences or observations
• Soft skill discussions
• Education/experience/training discussions

Following the Job Shadow there will be a luncheon and motivational speaker from 12:00-1:00 pm for the student and sponsor. We kindly ask that your company or agency cover the cost of the luncheon for the student and employee ($20 per person).

At your earliest convenience, could you please provide the name of the employee the student will be working with, their position, and contact information (including address of company).
