In 1914 Ernest Shackleton set out to be first person to complete the overland crossing of the Antarctic. Shackleton did not reach his goal. However, through incredible leadership and management skills, he kept every one of his crew alive during an almost two-year struggle. Using the book Leading at the Edge, Burnett will guide participants through 10 critical strategies Shackleton used to keep his crew alive. Using an interactive case-study approach the group will discuss each strategy and how to use them to be better leaders in a business setting. These strategies are critical to successful leadership in business and life.
To prepare for the forum, participants should read Leading at the Edge: Leadership Lessons from the Extraordinary Saga of Shackleton’s Antarctic Expedition. The book can be found here on Amazon, for about $12 in paperback.
